DYSLEXIA

Am I dyslexic? I have problems with remembering the order of things, especially when giving and receiving instructions.

Some dyslexics are said to have sequencing difficulties, this can cause problems with structuring and making sense of information. Lots of dyslexics are holistic learners and thinkers which means they need the overall picture to make sense of information.

I find it difficult to break down lots of information, this has made it difficult for me to write clearly.

Often a dyslexic thinks in pictures and not words, it is possible to break down information using mind maps, and creating visual templates that promote easy recall.

I often am unable to see my mistakes and even write things down wrongly.

Spelling and syntax difficulties are a typical feature of dyslexia .
Getting someone to proof read your work is always useful rather than rely on word processor spell checkers which can give poor or inappropriate spelling and syntax alternatives.

My memory is so poor I seem to loose information very quickly as I learn it. I am terrible at exams because I cannot remember lots of information unless it is linked up in some way which is not always possible.

Dyslexics are now getting extra time in examination so that they can plan and mind-map there ideas. There are techniques for remembering information for example, mind mapping, which links ideas and concepts in a way that works for you.
